It may be the eve of the end of the world but I figured I’d take a look back at some photos.
I arrived in SL in April 2007 and after a brief detour in a place called Metatheria I happened upon this weird town called New Babbage. It was an entire sim (yes one whole sim!) of victorian architecture and this stuff they called steampunk. Metatheria had been pretty and lovingly put together but on the night I arrived I came across two unlikely looking characters, a blue skinned hulk of a man and what I took to be a rather od bird but I am assured it was a dragon :-). They were Salazar Jack and Khashkai Steinbeck and they were making “stuff”. Stuff that worked. I was intrigued, I also met Annabella who was thinking of renting a place and was on the waiting list for the new sim called “Canals”. We shared the rent and a few short weeks later both bought land next to our row houses. My factory still stands on that land as does Annabella’s landmark.
Well, as I am in the process of reconstructing Maison Horta bit by bit I thought I’d research my past photos and then Iwent on a detour. So with the help of Wallis and Gabby we have identified a few of the people in a couple of my photos but who are the others.
The photos in question are of the opening of the Babbage-Lovelace park inthe canals, as recorded here
They can be found on my flickr
The first is here in my photostream. Besides myself, and Sir Arthur (in the kilt), we have Pumpkin Tripsa (as spotted by Tes). Can anyone identify the mystery woman?
Next up we have another from the same event. Based on the sleuthing conducted today by Ms Graves we believe that the gentleman with the coffee is Mr Garth Goode. That leaves two more to identify. Rumour has it that the lady might be none other than the Countess of Primbroke. But what of the chap at the back?
I’m pretty sure the guy in the back of the second picture is Quine Mondrain.
In the grey suit? Yes, that’s Mr. Mondrian.
Junie, I take it that that is not you there in the brown gown. That was my second choice if it is not Mrs Pearse
We’re going to have to look for a third option because that’s definitely not Christine.
Briliant! Thank you
I rememebr those statues, i stuck a moustache on both of them
Infact i just found the very image of said grafitti
Brilliant. I wonder what happened to the statues themselves?
Yeh, Oy’d loike ta ‘ave copies faw me hysterical … er, historical collection.
I keep seeing references to this here Mondraine feller. Musta been quite a guy. Where has he got off to?
