Margo December’s Story (Salador and the Angel) (Dark Aether)

Long long ago before this city was here, there was a small village. In it lived a little boy about your age. His name was Salador and he wished every day that he was important and would be remembered for ever. Then he died and lived happily ever after.

No wait.. no thats a different story.

Salador waited for his father to come home from the mountains and on one occasion he rested under a very old tree. While resting a voice of an angel spoke to Salador saying why was he sad. So Salador told the voice that he wanted to make his parents proud, to become wealthy and live for ever.

The voice told Salador that he was already special and that he had been chosen by the gods to be very special.

So Salador went home after meeting his father and soon he started to see things differently, he started to understand why things were, and made sense of the different things in the world. Soon Salador was learning to mix chemicals and potions and eventually he became the most famous and powerful Alchemist in the land. People asked him how he learned all he knew, and he told them about the angel under the tree.

Oh wait i forgot a bit.

The angel told him never to speak of there meeting.

So salador told everyone that he had been visited by an angel and blessed by the gods.

“ What happened because he talked about the angel?”

Nothing. He became even more famous and people wanted to see more and more things. So Salador looked to do more and more things. Soon he had done everything, cured broken bones, regrown heads and made gold from sheep poo, but still he wanted to do more, so he went back to the tree and prayed for the angel to speak to him again and the Angel told him he should not have spoken about it.

Salador pleaded to know what else he could do , and the angel said all that is left to build is life, so the angel whispered to Salador the gift of creating life. And so Salador set forth to create life but this time, he made a mistake and the life he created turned against him and started to eat children and old people. Everyone hated Salador and the Knights of Malkuth condemned him to death along with his family.

Some say they hear his daughter crying outside the walls of New Babbage, some say his creation could not die and was buried in a statue by the Malkuth Knights.
And some say the old tree still grows outside the walls somewhere, known by the local peasants as the ‘Woe Tree’

And what is the moral of the tale?

Creating life is tricky and dangerous?

Then again as a creation of someone else I’m not going to put up too much resistance to the idea of creating life, otherwise I would be out of an existance…

Quite tricky and dangerous. That’s why it’s always best to begin with existing life. Clockworks tend to be a safer route though, but learning processes can lead to danger, just recall Pinnochio.

    Nonsense.

    Creating life is quite easy.

It’s living with it that sometimes becomes tricky.

If I had a few coins for every ‘God’s Chosen Creation’ that I’d had to put out of everybody’s misery I’d be rather wealthier than I am.
